Regression Model Linear Models
Question: Describe about the Regression Model for Linear Models. Answer: (LR-1) Purpose: To estimate the blood fat content based on age using a linear model Data: the data on Age and blood fat content is retrieved S/No. Age (Years) Fat content S/No. Age (Years) Fat content 1 46 354 14 23 254 2 20 190 15 60 395 3 52 405 16 48 434 4 30 263 17 34 220 5 57 451 18 51 374 6 25 302 19 50 308 7 28 288 20 34 220 8 36 385 21 46 311 9 57 402 22 23 181 10 44 365 23 37 274 11 24 209 24 40 303 12 31 290 25 30 244 13 52 346 (LR-2) Scatterplot: As one would expect, as the age increases so should the blood fat content. This gives a somewhat linear trend. (LR-3) Line of Best Fit (Regression Line) y = 5.3207x + 102.58 where x = Age (Years) and y = blood fat content (LR-4): The slope is 5.3207 and is positive since the blood fat content increases with age. The slope indicates that in general, the blood fat content increase by 5.3207 with a one year increase in age, and so the blood fat content increases at an average rate of 1(5.3207) = 5.3207 for a unit increase in age. (LR-5): Values of r2 and r: r2=0.7012 We know that the slope of the regression line is positive so the correlation coefficient r must be positive. Recall that r = +1 corresponds to perfect positive correlation, and so r = 0.8374 indicates moderately strong positive correlation (relatively close to +1 but not very strong). (LR-6) Prediction: For someone age 50, substitute x = 50 to get y = 5.3207(50) + 102.58 368.615. The regression line predicts a blood fat content of 368.615 for a person aged 50 years old. (LR-7) Narrative: The data consisted of the blood fat content and the ages of 25 individuals. The data exhibit a moderately strong upward linear trend. The regression line predicts a blood fat content of 368.615 for an individual aged 50 years old. Will the regression line's prediction be the same (Upward linear trend) if we use weight as the independent variable? Using the weight (Kilograms) as the independent variable and Blood fat content as the dependent variable, our regression line is y = 1.6223x + 199.3. When x = 80, the prediction is y = 1.6223(80) + 199.3 329.084. Its important to note that r2 = 0.0704 and for the positively sloping line, the correlation coefficientis , not as strong as when we considered the age (years) as the independent variable. Conclusion: In this paper, I have examined two linear models, using different independent variables and both have positive correlation coefficients though the strengths of correlation differ. One model uses age (years) as the independent variable while the other uses weight (Kilograms) as the independent variable.

The Americam Dream Essays - The Great Gatsby, Daisy Buchanan
The Americam Dream ?The American Dream? People may say that the definition of the ?American Dream?, means to be wealthy, others may argue that it means to be healthy. Most people think that it is a combination of both. In the novel ?The Great Gatsby?, Nick Carraway and Jay Gatsby reveal two different meanings to the phrase, ?The American Dream?. Nick's interpretation of the American Dream is based on being healthy and happy. Gatsby's on the other hand is more lenient toward the wealthier aspect. Throughout the entire novel Nick Carraway is known as an honest, trustworthy, loyal, and judgmental type of person. As soon as Nick reaches the age of thirty, he realizes a sense of moral responsibility. He can not tolerate how everything is revolving around money. He is disgusted with the eastern society and now figures out that it is time to leave and move on so that he can be happy. So, he returns to the Middle Western society and fulfills his personal responsibilities. Jay Gatsby is the exact opposite of Nick Carraway. As the novel progressives his attitude towards life does not change and he just becomes more and more selfish. He devotes his life to being with Daisy Buchanan and he thinks that he can only get her to love him if he is rich. He is an extremely romantic character, but definitely falls short in realizing that love can not be bought, it must be there from the start. It is safe to say that Nick is a trustworthy person and that Gatsby is a materialistic person. They each present totally different characteristics and are examples of the established rich and the newly rich. This novel resulted in a man who realized that there is more to life than money, and a man that did not succeed, because he was too caught up in money. The ?American Dream? is definitely a combination of health and wealth. Bibliography the grapes of wrath English Essays

The course, therefore, produces graduates who can contextualize their technical knowledge and who can use other technological applications in meeting the health demands for all patients. Provision of better health services requires both technical and application skills in order to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare services for the entire population. These skills, knowledge and competencies are provided by the Baccalaureate education course. Buy custom Essentials of Baccalaureate Education essay

Anthropology Multiple Questions Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Anthropology Multiple Questions - Essay Example A good example of a cultural universal is art. In music, one is more likely to listen to classical music and dance ballet if they are exposed to it. Another person may favor hip hop and rap music because they have been exposed to it. In the argument of nature versus nurture, the environment in which one grows up contributes more to how an individual turns out, as opposed to biology. This is because the environment exposes one to certain things that he or she will adopt (Nowak & Laird, 2010). Question 2: Ethnography and Ethnology An ethnographic survey is a detailed study of a groupââ¬â¢s culture. This involves the anthropologist going out into the field, living with the subjects and recording the observations made about the group. Ethnology is the cross-comparative study of different societies to identify and explain similarities and differences. It uses data from ethnographic surveys and compares it with same data from different societies (Nowak & Laird, 2010). When conducting a study of a different culture, the method I would use would be participant observation. Becoming immersed in the culture to be studied would reduce ethnocentric tendencies from my own enculturation. It would also aid in faster integration and acceptance by the subjects, and they would be more open to sharing information. Methods of gathering data include; open-ended questionnaires, interviews, tape and video recordings and field notes. Problems that may arise include; refusal to participate, observer bias and language barriers. These problems can be countered by immersing oneself fully to gain the participants trust and get them used to outsider presence, making use of an interpreter and eventually learning some of the language. Question 3: Role of women in Foraging and Horticultural based societies Women in foraging societies were responsible for collecting wild plants while the men hunted (Nowak & Laird, 2010). Women produced up to eighty percent of the groupââ¬â¢s nutritional n eeds. Foragers were fairly egalitarian as both sexes participated equally in food procurement. Women took part in decision making alongside men. Horticulturalists practiced small-scale farming on plots of land. Women did most of the cultivation and they held positions and statuses in horticultural societies, being the main food producers. As the role of women in food production diminishes, so does their power and status. The egalitarian nature of foraging and horticultural societies was because women were important in food production. This was not replicated in agrarian and industrialized societies where men controlled more resources. Though American women on average earn less than men, their status is higher than in the past and they can now make decisions. The American woman can be considered at par with the woman in foraging and horticultural societies. Question 4: Reciprocity in Foraging and Horticultural societies Reciprocity is a type of economic exchange where goods or servic es are given in expectation that the receiver will return the favor. Reciprocation may be generalized, where the giver trusts that the receiver will reciprocate in kind. The amount and date of reciprocation is not specified; it is an arrangement based on trust and cooperation. Foraging societies, for example, practice generalized reciprocation where a hunter shares his catch with the whole village (Mauss, 2000). The gatherers also divide out the catch amongst themselves so that every family gets something. Balanced reciprocity is practiced with the

Hinduism & Jainism Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
Hinduism & Jainism - Essay Example In Jainism, no practices of food are offered to God or the divine. Consequently, Hindus give offerings of gift and materialistic needs for the divine. Rituals and traditions of sacrifices also differ in both religions. Since Hinduism is more focused on sacrifice, the focus of sacrificing animals is prevalent in Hinduism. In Jainism, this form of practice is refuted and discouraged. As mentioned above, the theory of salvation and afterlife is quite essential in both religions. While the Hindus believe that only God can truly achieve salvation, Jainism insists that humans are the only creation that can reach that level of state. Karma is another focal point that differentiates the two religions. Salvation is another crucial concept in which both religions tend to have differences. Hindus believe that Gods can only achieve salvation. However, the Jainas consider this privilege of human beings only. History evacuation course work Essay Example for Free
History evacuation course work Essay The two sources are different, source B is a picture taken during the war in1939 the year in which the war had started in September. It seems to have been used as a government propaganda source. The photo is to encourage people to evacuate their children, also to get people to look at the people in the picture see the faces in the picture and look at their spirit and get them to follow the example. I have made this conclusion because the picture looks as if it has been taken from high up and at an angle looking down, also all the people are waving and they all look happy and the formation theyre walking in is pretty organized. The government wanted this because they wanted people two evacuate. Source C is a teacher being interviewed in 1988 remembering what happened the teacher tells us about the start of the journey at the train station about the mothers trying to shout to there children good bye because they wont see them for a long time. The teacher might not remember every thing because its 50 years after the event so his memory would be patchy or might only focus on just the bad points in instead of the good. This source was probably made for teaching aides or an archive because sources e and f are also dated 1988. I think that source C is the most valuable source as evidence as what happened because source b was probably set up by the government to get people to agree with them that children should be evacuated this was important to the government because they dont want children among the casualty list also they want to keep that generation because in ww1 they lost a generation of men. Source C is someone who was their giving their opinion on the matter this is valuable because someone is recalling the truth as they saw it happening before them. The extract comes from a book called Carries war it was written in 1973 by Nina Bowden. The book is a childrens novel it has been written to entertain children. This would affect the book by changing facts and figures because she needs to make it more interesting. The context of this story is the evacuees Carrie and nick being taken back to there evacuation home by there carer Miss Evans before this scene they would have had been at the train station being issued to there cares. Miss Evans thinks that the evacuees Nick and Carrie are poor Carrie and Nick think that its funny and arent really bothered. The characters think this because the children saw evacuation as a big adventure but the adults saw the children as smelly little things. The conditions some of the children come from were terrible the houses were terraced close together and very poor quality. I think this source is not very reliable at all it is a story it is a story it is made to entertain little children problems would be that the facts may be different and could that the author doesnt have a clue.
